Versatile Leadership in the Nordics

Rob spent the week with Scandinavian distribution partners, LEAD – enter next level, in a series of keynote addresses, workshops, and strategic meetings throughout the Nordics, including events in Copenhagen, Bjerringbro, Århus, Ålborg, and Oslo. The team wrapped up a jam-packed week with great fun at the Northside Rock Festival in Ådalen.

After an LVI Certification Workshop in Copenhagen on Monday, Rob delivered a keynote speech (download slides) at a unique, invitation-only event with CEOs, line executives, and HR/Talent leaders held in the wine cellar of the Hudson-DK offices. The event was sponsored by Hudson-DKChange|Entrepreneurship, and LEAD and brought together leaders from some of the region’s most interesting private companies including Lego, Maersk, Vestas, and IKEA. Special thanks to Ola Lenes, Managing Director of Hudson-DK, for arranging the luxurious catering, outstanding wines, and lovely jazz band that set the tone for a high-class, high-impact networking opportunity.

Rob delivered a keynote speech (download slides) at a special conference at the Poul Due Jensen Academy in Bjerringbro, Jutland sponsored by Grundfos, Arhus University, and Aalborg University. The conference, CAPTURING THE MESSINESS OF LEADERSHIP, brought together a mix of leading researchers, consultants, and HR professionals to discuss how to improve leadership assessment and development. Special thanks to Professor Claus Elmholdt for recommending that Rob present a summary of his career-spanning work on innovations in leadership assessment that are better suited for developing leaders for today’s complex, fast-paced, and context-rich global economy.

Rob also delivered a hands-on workshop, MASTERING THE OPPOSING FORCES OF LEADERSHIP, to professional audiences in four different regions. These workshops guided participants through a mindshift approach to professional learning and development. They were conducted in partnership with Nextwork (Ålborg), Dansk HR (Århus), LEAD (Copenhagen), and the great Norwegian Organizational and Team Development professor and consultant, Henning Bang (Oslo).

Finally, Rob spent Friday with the talented consulting staff at LEAD, delivering a master class on advanced techniques for coaching in the versatility framework and its unique methods for doing the inner work needed to support and sustain the outer work of executive development. Rob was joined in teaching these advanced methods by his good friend and colleague, Niels-Henrik Sørensen, partner of LEAD and head of its LVI Distribution business.
